Helge Jordheim awarded The 'Gad Rausings pris' 2023
Helge Jordheim, a former project leader at CAS, has been awarded the ‘Gad Rausings pris för framstående humanistisk forskargärning´ for his innovative and influential research in the field of cultural history. Jordheim led the research project 'In Sync: How Synchronization and Mediation Produce Collective Times, Then and Now' together with professor Espen Ytreberg in 2018/2019.
The prize will be awarded at the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities' annual ceremony on March 20. The prize amount is 1.5 million Swedish kronor.
Jordheim's research is characterized by broad perspectives, philological accuracy and theoretical sharpness. He has played a crucial role in the development and revitalization of cultural history, especially in regards to time, time scales, and time rhythms. His research also has relevance for the view of humanity's role in a world threatened by climate change.
Helge Jordheim is a strong advocate for the humanities and their significance in today's and future societies. His research has led to outstanding and lasting theoretical, methodological, and empirical results.
