Seminar: Applications of complex dynamics to independence polynomials

Thursday 26 January, Associate Professor Han Peters gives the talk Applications of complex dynamics to independence polynomials. He is part of the CAS research project Several Complex Variables and Complex Dynamics.

Abstract

Complex dynamical systems arise naturally when studying independence polynomials of graphs.  In recent joint work with Guus Regts, we studied the dynamical behavior in order to settle a conjecture of Sokal regarding the location of zeroes of the independence polynomial.
