3rd Methods Seminar: Introduction to Epidemic Modeling

Held by Gerardo Chowell-Puente, professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at Georgia State University, School of Public Health.

Gerardo is currently a fellow at CAS on the project Social Science Meets Biology.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to monitor and control the spread of infectious diseases using mathematical and statistical modeling tools. In this seminar, Gerardo will introduce key concepts and ideas in infectious disease epidemiology and describe methodologies to develop and apply epidemic models to investigate infectious disease transmission and control with applications to various infectious disease epidemics including influenza and COVID-19.
